Vaporettos can be in fact termed Venetian buses. Vaporettos are one of the cheapest ways of exploring the Venice city and will cost your pocket only a few dollars. The Water bus is the shortest as well as the most economical gondola ride in Venice.
Here is a list of a few waterbus routes which tourists will love. For old people as well as those with kids, you have the option of getting on to flat-decked boats which specially render facilities to roll your wheel chairs and strollers on and off. Vaporetto routes are usually depicted by line numbers.
Line Number 2 (previously 82): Starts from San Zaccaria (above Piazza San Marco) through the Giudecca Canal to the Piazzale Roma, and the railway station.
There are also lines (like lines 5 and 8) which operate only during the peak tourist season. Summer or Carnival is the time these ‘Seasonal routes’ start functioning.
Line Number 5: Whether you are at Piazza San Marco, Zaccaria or the glassmaking island of Murano, you can hop into this one.
Line Number 8: Connecting Sacca Fisola on Giudecca Island to the Lido.
n addition to the above, there are also several other Circolare (Circular) Routes, Car Ferry, Night Routes and Lagoon Routes (Burano, Torcello, etc.) operating in Venice.
